Two move chess
Two move chessHi, everyone!
When I was a child, I loved to play with my friends two move chess. I believe it was my favourite variant of chess. And I really surprised that it doesn't became popular. It's not even became a part of lichess yet. At least I am sure it's more entertaining than most of the chess variants we have.
The rules are next:
Each player has two moves in a row, unless
- You checked you opponent in your first move
- You was checked on a previous move
Each move should be legal. In order to win you need to checkmate your opponent.
Of course, white has a big advantage here. For example you play e4 Be2, threatening both of Bc4 Bf7 and Bh5 Bf7. Black need to defend f7 pawn with knight from h6, because once your king moved on f7, it's completely lost (because of rule 2). Moreover I am sure starting position is just winning for white.
But, if white has only one move on the first move, it should be an equal game. After each white move - their have one extra move, after each black move - they have. It seems very equal. I suppose it would be very interesting variant, with it's own tactic motivs and strategic.
Write down below, please, if it is seems amusing for you or not. Would you like to play it or not? What king of disadvantages do you see in two move chess? And if you are as much excited about this variant as me, write your opinion about the strongest first moves. I hope some time we can play it together here.
