True dat! They will ask "can you hear me?" They are looking for that one 'yes'. I'm tempted to ask "can YOU hear me? Awesome, now ____ off!" Seriously, we usually just say "remove this number from your call list."
True story: i received a call from a number i didn't recognize so, i answered " sheriff's office, fraud department, deputy kowalski speaking, how can i help you?" There was brief laughter on the other end followed by "that's real good! Actually, this is _____ with the hospital calling for your pre-admittance work for tomorrow's surgery." Good laughs all around.
