I think it was an over reaction by an over zealous mod it was very interesting that the girls were not interested at all and thought chess geek , I thought it was very interesting I'm sad it got shut down your thread I thought it opened up a very interesting insight how millennial girls viewed chess and chess geeks and how in the future girls chess will take step backwards when it was going so well xxx

> Hello, my recent post lichess.org/forum/off-topic-discussion/why-girls-dont-like-chess has been closed after a few hours. Did my topic violate some guidelines? I was receiving very useful feedbacks there and it is pretty sad that nobody can add comments anymore.

the title of your post could be confusing and be seen as a seemingly mysoginous generalization when you are only talking about your personal experience in relation to those around you.

even if there was no bad intention on your part.
I thought after the brilliant programme the queens gambit many many thousands of girls would take on chess to challenge the boys but if this is girls reaction in general just laughing at the boys ,maybe not xxx
Why girls don't like chess

In my class there isn't a single girl who likes chess. Not only, they totally refuse the idea of playing. Now that we are in vacation, I simply suggested to my friends to meet one evening and play some table games like chess, checkers and so. The males agreed with me, but all the girls in the chat absolutely refused the idea of playing chess. I also said that I don't wanna win, I just want to make them know this beautiful game and teach the basic principles, but there's no way. Also a few months ago I asked my math teacher (female) and the school principal to organize a chess tournament and they said to me "If a good number of students wants to play then yes". But I wasn't able to reach an adequate number, since 70% of my school mates are female. They mostly laughed at me when I suggested the idea of a chess tournament and this made me very sad.

You need to act gradually, without rushing.
Tell more stories about famous people connected with chess.

And also, for example, live chess in the Italian town of Marostica. (The article is in Russian, but you will find something better).
www.vokrugsveta.ru/vs/article/7954/

Or suggest watching a French film Joueuse (2009) - about a woman (Sandrine Bonnaire) who became passionate about chess.

You need them to become interested and want to learn about chess themselves.

Girls like to go to pop music concerts and dance rather than playing chess.

I concur. Just because (apparently by the moderator removed posts) some people supposably responded in a way that deserved deletion, this doesn't make the #1 topic a bad post.
And therefore doesn't condone a thread closure.

Added: my post is regarding the #1 alone.
I have no idea what the other, now deleted, posts were about.
But if it was so bad, that Lichess deleted more than 50% of a thread, why not just delete the whole thread?
