Kid Mode
Kid Mode is a special feature designed to allow children to access Lichess in a safe way. When in Kid Mode, your child will be able to play games against other users, but those users will not be able to send them anything beyond chess moves. Chat functions are turned off. There is no access to forums, blogs, live streams or videos. The only exception is that the child's teacher will be able to send them messages, but only if the account was made by that teacher through Lichess' class feature.
You will know your child is using Kid Mode because of the signature smiley face visible in the upper left of every Lichess page.
Your child will be unable to turn Kid Mode off without having the account's password. This is why we recommend that parents and teachers keep control of the password themselves. Simply log into the account for them and select "Keep me logged in". They should now be able to use Lichess without needing to log in every time. Kid Mode can be turned on and off in the account settings.
You also don't have to worry about exposing your child to ads or having them tracked by online trackers. In fact, no Lichess user needs to worry because Lichess doesn't have any ads or trackers and never will. Learn more about Lichess.
