About me
I am a 53 year old, former IT professional. I am based in Canberra, Australia and am currently a chess tournament organiser, chess coach, and administrator for the ACT Chess Association and ACT Junior Chess League.
Playing experience
I have represented Papua New Guinea in international chess since 2000. I have played in a number of Chess Olympiads, with my best score being 6/9 in 2002 (Bled). I finished 2nd in the 2019 Oceania Zonal with 6.5/9, and qualified to play in the 2019 World Cup (as a replacement for the Zonal winner). I was eliminated in the 1st round by GM Liren Ding.
Teaching experience
I am a certified FIDE Trainer (2016) and have captained the PNG Olympiad Team (2016). I have been teaching chess since 1983 with some of my students going on to become national champions in Australia, as well as representing Australia in international events.
Other experiences
I am a writer, chess magazine publisher, and have produced and presented a weekly radio show.
